Prepositions followed by Dative Case

Dative Case is used among others after the following prepositions:
dzięki
  • thanks to
  • due to
przeciw(ko)
  • against
wbrew
  • despite

Dzięki tobie czuję się bezpieczna.I feel safe thanks to you.
Dzięki dotacji unijnej mogłem zostać przedsiębiorcą.Thanks to the EU subsidy, I was able to become an entrepreneur.
Dzięki odkryciom naukowym jesteśmy w stanie wyleczyć wiele chorób.Thanks to scientific discoveries, we are able to cure many diseases.

Gramy przeciwko drużynie z Warszawy.We play against the team from Warsaw.
Jestem przeciw zaproponowanym zmianom w prawie.I am against proposed changes in law.
Rząd rozpoczął walkę przeciw ubóstwu i wykluczeniu społecznemu.The government began the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

wbrew + Dative Case

English equivalents of wbrew + Dative Case:

Nie można zmuszać człowieka do wiary wbrew jego własnej woli.One cannot force a man to believe against his own will.
Pacjent opuścił szpital wbrew zaleceniom lekarza.The patient left the hospital against the doctor's instructions.
